Save Innocence

Save Innocence

Child and Women sexual abuse have become so rampant in schools, workplace and even at homes today such that protecting them has become a difficult task. As per the government figures, every 15 minutes, a child is sexually abused. Of late, a crime that has stirred the nation is the heinous sin of raping an 8 year old girl by 7 men in Kathua, Jammu (India).

Not only outside, children are sexually abused even in their homes by their known persons and close relatives. Anyone can be a perpetrator, be it child’s uncle or any neighbour or an acquaintance who exploits the child for sexual gratification.

The outcomes of child sexual abuse are perilous for the child resulting in physical as well as mental & emotional trauma to the child. Even if the child is not physically exploited, any kind of mental sexual exploitation is also a child sexual abuse.

“Save Innocence” – A drive against Child Sexual Abuse
“Save Innocence” is a program against Child Sexual Abuse under which a strong message is put across the children on why not to keep mum when there are perpetrators around and how they can protect themselves from the anti-social elements trying to exploit children’s modesty. They are taught about “Safe and Unsafe” touch and a corpus of youngsters is formed which help in educating children as well as other youngsters to protect themselves from sexual abuse.

The Drive

The drive “Save Innocence”, started by Greeting Lives Foundation envisions protecting children from perpetrators by spreading awareness among all the stakeholders, the children being the key persons who are made aware of the good and bad touch and why it is important to vent out their feelings when such turmoil of child sexual abuse is faced by them. Greeting Lives Foundation has joined hands with other organisations in their conjoined efforts to make children free from sexual abuse.
The major areas where the drive is delivered are schools, colleges, educational institutions as well as recreational centres where children related activities are performed.
